On January 16, 1966, a B-52 bomber collided with a KC-135 Tanker while attempting to refuel 30,000 feet above Spain’s Mediterranean coast. The fuel in the tanker exploded immediately, and then explosions rocked the B52. To make matters worse, the B-52 was carrying four unarmed hydrogen bombs that were released as the aircraft broke up.
